“But I trust in your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the Lord because he is good to me.”
Psalms 13:5-6 (NLT)
When’s the last time you thanked the Lord for His goodness towards you?
If you haven’t lately, don’t feel bad. I’m not so good with the “thank you’s” either.
But for real though, right now, in this moment, just stop. Stop and consider giving Him a “thank you, God.”
Stop and ponder…Has He really been good to you?
Has He answered a prayer that you forgot you prayed?
Did He heal that loved one you kept interceding for?
Did He present an opportunity that could’ve only been orchestrated by Him?
Did He lead you to the love of your life?
Did He come through with an unexpected surprise or make you come across something that had you totally tickled?
Alllll of that…that’s Him being good to you.
On the flip side…
Did you lose a job you gave your all to?
Did your business fail?
Did your dream shatter?
Did that love you were so sure about dissolve?
Did you lose that loved one?
Did the thing you wanted to work out so bad crumble and turn to ash?
Did you get your heart broken?
Even still..He has been good to you.
My mama loves to say to me, “Keep livin’.”
I absolutely HATE when she says this y’all cuz it’s usually her response to something I could see myself never doing. Like “Oh no ma, I could never see myself changing my ‘perfect man’ list.”
“Keep livin’,” she’ll say.
“I ain’t gone ever make that dumb of a decision, ma.” “Keep livin’” is her response.
Well ma, I keep livin’ and I keep seeing the goodness of God. Even in the stuff I wish I NEVER went through…the hard stuff, the failed relationships, broken dreams & friendships, the losses, the loves that I just knew would finally work only to have them leave…I still can see His goodness even in all that.
Man, sometimes you gotta look at the wins versus the losses. Sometimes you gotta reflect on the moments you thought you’d never get through, but you did get through and now look at you. You got wisdom on you, you glow with the glow of a victor. You know how to navigate life a little better and you’re even able to give sound advice to someone you love (and maybe even someone you don’t even like).
I made a list the other day. This list was just me telling God “I thank You for Your…”
I was just jotting the stuff down without thinking super hard and this is what I wrote:
God, thank You for—
Your goodness
Your mercy
Your grace
Your provision
Your salvation
Your peace
Your love
Your forgiveness
Your consistency
Your patience
Your surprises
Your joy
Your strength
Your wisdom
Your might
Your hope
Your truth
Your guidance
Your light
Your ways
Your faithfulness
Your pursuit (of me)
Your heart
Your ability to make known what needs to be known in its perfect time
If you can relate to any one or more things on my list, thank God for it now, cuz He’s been good. He’s good to You. Believe that. Trust that. And expect to see more and more of His goodness today and in the new year.
I love the Message version of the scripture I mentioned earlier. It describes my heart for God and how I’m going into 2024:
“I’ve thrown myself headlong into your arms— I’m celebrating your rescue. I’m singing at the top of my lungs, I’m so full of answered prayers.”
Psalms 13:5-6 (MSG)
I’m so full of answered prayers, y’all. And I’m sure if you take time to think about it, you’re probably full of answered prayers, too. Shoot, you may even be someone’s answered prayer. God is just that good and just that intentional.
I am full of answered prayers.
Wow.
Daddy, my God of today, tomorrow and eternity—Thank You so much for Your goodness. Thank You so much for my Savior, Jesus. Thank You so much for placing Your precious Holy Spirit in me and every believer.
May we all see more of Your goodness in the days to come. May we overflow with answered prayers. May we “keep livin’” and witnessing Your unexplainable blessings.
I’ll love You forever.
Love,
YOUR daughter,
Key♥️
